Sacred Music Review

On August 3, 2008 at 2:30 the Peoria Area Civic Chorale will perform their 2nd annual sacred concert at Salem Lutheran Church in Peoria.  This concert is free and open to the public. Many Chorale soloists and ensembles will be featured in this afternoon of great music and fellowship.


 

An American Family Christmas 2008


American Family Christmas It’s a Peoria tradition!
People from all over the greater Peoria Area are discovering that there truly is no better way to usher in the joy and beauty of the Christmas season than by being a part of the Peoria Area Civic Chorale’s inspirational An American Family Christmas performances.  The Peoria Area Civic Chorale invites you to join us in the Civic Center Theater on December 19, 20 and 21 to celebrate the glorious sounds of the Christmas season!  This year we’ll feature Harry Simeone’s Sing We Now of Christmas, a colorful holiday program consisting of over thirty carols, hymns, and secular songs of the season!  Also enjoy the spectacular sounds of chorale and brass with such works as Hodie by Z.  Randall Stroope and Gloria by Randol Alan Bass.  For the children in all of us, we’ll be expecting our traditional visit from Santa and we’ll sing such favorites as Silver Bells, the Christmas Sleigh, and the Spirit of the Season from The Polar Express, a film inspired by Chris Van Allsburg’s classic Christmas story.

As usual, we won’t do all the singing by ourselves for the Christmas spirit is truly a spirit to share with others.  You can expect a few audience sing-a-long carols and stirring performances from our annual Young Artist Competition winners, the Peoria Area Civic Chorale Youth Chorus, and our annual festival choruses for both elementary school and junior high singers.  Make plans to meet us in December as we gather in the Peoria Area Civic Center Auditorium to unwrap the many gifts of music that celebrate the Christmas season!
